    Fabulous

John & Silvia were friendly and are well known in the district. The rambling old building was interesting and the room was very comfortable.

    Superb

The extraordinary desire of the owners to please their clients in every way imaginable. Culture - music and drama - were strong points.

A Tudor hotel cannot have a lift. It did not worry us, but could be a problem for the very elderly and infirm.

    Fabulous

The hotel was central for visiting National trust properties in the area. It is a very old hotel and has plenty of character. Staff were friendly and helpful. We particularly enjoyed the music on tuesday evening.

    Fabulous

Comfortable, attractive old coaching inn. Well looked after by proprietor and staff. Good food and restaurant

No, we enjoyed our stay on business trip

    Good

I like the quirkey old fashioned building. The water appeared in the bath when the sink drained.

The reception was deserted on our arrival and when someone did arrive they accused me of being thick for asking how to get to the car park. I thought it was a reasonable question. The owners were busy as a local show was on which made us feel very second class as they rushed around making us feel in the way.

Good quality food products used, clean bedrooms, good tea and coffee facilities provided.

The brusque nature of the owners. Hotel had a tired, faded feel about it.

    Exceptional

The food was freshly cooked and delicious, far superior to higher starred hotels we have stayed in. Also very impressed with the choice of food offered at the wedding reception which then arrived promptly and efficiently. Evening venue in the Medieval Banqueting Hall was superb.

    Very good

Super breakfast, quirkiness of black and white buiding/room

    creaky bed!!

  • 6.2
    Good

The location was ideal. Easy to find and the hotel was clean.

It was impossible to dry your hair with a dryer and see in the mirror as there were no plug sockets anywhere near. The shower head bracket was broken and so it kept falling off and hitting you on the head whilst having a shower! Although smoked haddock was on the breakfast menu, I was told in no uncertain terms that it took too long as it had to be defrosted, then cooked! Why was it on the menu?!

  • 6.2
    Good

The idiosyncratic behaviour of the owners, who seemed to be preoccupied with themselves rather than with their (paying!) guests.

  • 9.2
    Superb

The hospitality was very good, we were made to feel very welcome. Food was delicious & plenty of it! Thank you for a lovely stay.
